Gang Starr has released a new song titled “Finishem”. The song includes vocal lines recorded by MC Guru, one half of the duo along with DJ Premier, before his death in 2010.

The song arrives on the fifth anniversary of Gang Starr’s LP. One of the best so farwhich served as the group’s first new music in 16 years when it dropped in 2019.

“Like One of the best so far DJ Premier said in a statement: “Approaching the five-year anniversary, this milestone prompted me to create a new track to fit the occasion.” “The album is special on so many different levels; what it meant to me, Guru’s family and the fans demanded something new to honor the occasion. I started going through the files, looking for something special and fitting; once I heard Guru’s phrase ‘Now I’m almost done, only my actor can reduce it’ I realized that this was the case and went to work crafting a beat for it.

He continued: “I had some unused Antman Wonder files that I decided to check out, and one of the sounds struck me emotionally from the first note. I knew that this is what makes up the song. Fans always appreciate more Gang Starr, and this is for them.

When One of the best so far DJ Premier said Rolling Stone that Guru was constantly recording, and this is what the LP sounded like after his death. “He was always known for recording all the time,” DJ Premier said. “That’s what made me start saying, ‘Man, I know there must be a lot of stuff that hasn’t been released yet.'”

He added: “All the projects that were done after she died, people put them out intact. I didn’t want it to sound like a salvaged album. I wanted it to sound like a brand new album. I didn’t want it to sound like I was just fighting to save these songs just because there was nothing else I could work with.
