The Carey family is mourning the loss.
Rita Careythe older sister of Jim Carreydied on November 14, her husband Alex Confirmed In a post for Facebook on November 15.
He wrote on her account: “With a heavy heart and deep sadness, Rita passed away surrounded by her family and friends in peace and tranquility.”
Alex noted that although he and Rita – who was born and raised in Canada – had been together for 16 years, they only married last July “in the outdoor wedding she always wanted.”
“We traveled the world and met many people we consider friends,” he continued. “Rita was my best friend, my lover and my beautiful wife. Rita always had a loving spirit and wanted to help everyone, even strangers.”
Alex also shared an insight into life with his longtime love.
TThe TV and radio personality’s favorite holiday was Christmas. Her husband joked who – which vacation “was every day for her” and even prompted her to start a “fundraiser to help a local charity.”
