The president-elect of United States, Donald Trumphas appointed this Friday Karoline Leavitt as secretary of the White Houseafter she served as spokesperson for the Republican campaign and transition team.
“(Karoline) Leavitt did a phenomenal job as national press secretary on my historic campaign, and I am pleased to announce that she will be the White House press secretary,” the Republican said in a statement.
In addition, the former spokeswoman will become the youngest secretary in U.S. history with only 27 years old. This will happen when the new president officially takes office on January 20. Prior to her, the first position was held by Ron Ziegler, spokesman for Richard Nixon (1969-1974) with 29 years.
The next occupant of the White House has stressed that Leavitt is “smart, tough and has proven to be a very effective communicator“. “I have the utmost confidence that she will excel at the podium and help us deliver our message to the American people to make America great again,” he emphasized.
