with The seventh cry Set to take the franchise back to its roots, Matthew Lillard is excited to see what’s next.

After Screaming (1996) It was announced that original writer Kevin Williamson would return to the series to direct the upcoming seventh installment, and the actor expressed his excitement to see what direction the second installment of Slasher would go.

“I think it’s in a good place. I think that [the movie being] “Getting back into Kevin Williamson’s hands is great,” he said. Lillard noted that he was not a fan of the Venice scene Sixth scream. “I thought the movie got too violent,” he said. “I think number 6 was like… I don’t think Ghostface needs a gun at all. I think the movies – everything is trying to repeat what we did in the first movie in so many ways. Like an obsessive monologue at the end. It’s really hard to do that. I hope Kevin takes it in a new, brave, exciting direction so we can find different colors and different joys.

After OG star Neve Campbell sat down Sixth scream (2023) due to a salary dispute, she announced in March that she was returning for the next movie, with Williamson as director and a script by Jay Busiek.

Although Campbell indicated in July that she had yet to see a completed script, she signed a contract because the new film once again focuses on her “last girl” character, Sydney Prescott.

“We’re going to follow Sydney,” she told Entertainment Tonight. “They pitched the idea to me, and that’s why I signed on.”

Casting news came next screaming (2022) and Sixth scream (2023) Star Melissa Barrera was kicked out of the franchise for supporting Palestine amid the conflict between Israel and Hamas, which Spyglass Media deemed anti-Semitic.
