Ariana Grande on why she used her full name in ‘Wicked’

Ariana Grande stars in the movie adaptation Wicked Like Glinda the Good Witch.

When audiences see the film in theaters, they will notice that the “We Can’t Be Friends” singer uses her full name, Ariana Grande Butera, in the film’s credits.

In a new interview, Grande shared why she changed her name for the movie.

Grande said in an interview: “I feel like this experience has been a homecoming for me.” Streaming service. “I feel like I came home in a lot of ways, through what I learned from Glenda, from Elphaba. That was my name when I went to see the show when I was 10 years old, and it felt like a really cool way to honor that. It felt really full circle, and it felt like something I wanted to do.

The movie is directed by John M. Grande recently said she understands the initial criticism she received after confirming her casting for the musical adaptation.

“That’s something I loved so much about auditioning for Wicked,” Grande said on the Emotional Men podcast. “It has to be earned. Anything on that scale, being a part of anything, is not just given because they know one thing. So, it’s fun to take on the challenge of reframing people’s perceptions and doing the work to work your way back into other spaces.

Grande added: “I felt a little bit of initial nervousness or some kind of preconceived notions about what I might be able to achieve or not be able to achieve, or why I might be wrong or whatever.”
