Winter women, unite!

Sunday. Check out the trio of films opening the ski season at the “Women of Winter” screening on Sunday, Nov. 10. The event, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., is organized by BASECAMP Market StationThe film “NISEI,” about biracial skier Sierra Schlag; the meditative “Consonance”; and “Kindred,” about Devin Logan and Caroline Claire, U.S. Olympic team members and “soul mates” in skiing.

Market Station Vendors will have seasonal offerings, such as Thule, Danner and Topo Designs, with free hot cocoa and coffee from The Residences at Market Station. Veterans Day parade, festival and more.

Through Monday. Veteran’s Day this year falls on Monday, November 11, so organizers are planning celebratory events for this weekend. Among them, the ninth “Light Your Way Home.” a spectacle of luminaries on the grounds of the Colorado Freedom Monument 5-8 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 7 through Saturday, Nov. 9. “There will be 6,218 glass luminaries on display, one for every Colorado veteran killed in action since the state’s creation in 1876,” organizers wrote. At Denver Veterans Day race, parade and festival. returns to Civic Center Park in Denver on Saturday, organized by the Colorado Veterans Project. The 16th nonprofit event, which raises funds to feed homeless veterans, includes 5K and 10K races (and a popular 1-mile run, both starting at 8:30 a.m.), festival (starting at 9:30 a.m.) and parade (starting at 10:30 a.m.). BanjoFest is for banjo players (and banjo lovers).

Sunday. After nearly two decades of its endearing UkeFest, the Denver-based folk nonprofit organization Swallow Hill Music launches its first BanjoFeston Sunday, November 10, an event that our bluegrass-loving Colorado was overdue. It’s a “one-day festival of workshops, concerts and community for banjo lovers of all kinds,” according to organizers. Tony Trischka, Dom Flemonsy Brad Kolodner.

Denver Fashion Week Fall Collection

Saturday, November 17. Colorado’s best local designers – and some national and global names – will be showcased as. Denver Fashion Week is back with its fall events. The Saturday, Nov. 9 and 17 runway shows and model workshop include the new Maximalism Fashion Show, the Western Fashion Show (with Rockmount Ranch Wear) and the Be a Good Person brand, which recently collaborated with the Denver Broncos, according to organizers.
