The president of El Salvador, Nayib Bukele, announced that he will send to Costa Rica the plane with humanitarian aid that it had offered to Spain for the victims of the DANA.
“We had a mission ready to go to Valencia with 300 rescuers, medical supplies, food… a full plane. We have had it ready for daysbut I understand that the Spanish government, for some reason, is not accepting international aid and we can send it here tomorrow,” Bukele said after a bilateral meeting in San José with Costa Rican President Rodrigo Chaves.
The offer, which was accepted by Chaves with a “God bless you!”, came after the Costa Rican president announced that he will ask for support from the United States to attend to to the victims of the rains of the last few days which have affected several communities with floods, especially those located in the province of Guanacaste, on the Pacific coast.
The Salvadoran president offered that humanitarian aid plane to the Spanish Government last October 31, two days after the catastrophe caused by the DANA. “At this moment, we have sent an offer of aid to the Spanish Government through our chancellery. 300 rescuers and paramedics, along with 20 tons of equipmentmedicines and basic supplies, are ready to leave for Valencia,” he announced.
The Embassy of Spain in El Salvador thanked this offer publicly in a message posted on social networks: “Thank you President Nayib Bukele. for the support offered and for the expressions of solidarity of the brotherly people of El Salvador in these painful moments for those affected by the hurricane and for all Spaniards”.
However, the Spanish Government did not accept this humanitarian aid and the plane never left El Salvador for Valencia.
