Denzel Washington says he’s set to star in Black Panther 3: ‘Ryan Coogler is writing a part for me’

Denzel Washington is heading to Wakanda.

The two-time Oscar winner is currently on a press tour for Ridley Scott wrestler sequel, telling The Today Show Australia that Ryan Coogler is writing an unspecified role for him the next day Black Panther Movie.

Washington let the role slip away during the interview when the show’s host asked him if he still held any concerns about starring in films like The Wrestler. Washington’s reaction was clear.

“At this point in my career, I’m only interested in working with the best. I don’t know how many movies I’m going to make, maybe not that many. “I want to do things I haven’t done,” he said. “I played Othello when I was 22 years old, and I’ll play it now at 70 years old. And after that, I’m going to play Hannibal. And after that, I was talking to Steve McQueen about the movie.

Washington then added: “After that, Ryan Coogler is writing a role for me in the next Black Panther movie. And then I’m shooting Othello. And then I’m doing King Lear. And then I’ll retire.”

Washington gave a slight smile and peace sign after announcing his retirement.

There are currently no details on Coogler’s plans for the third Black Panther. The second movie in the series was released in 2022, two years after the death of the film’s lead actor Chadwick Boseman. The movie grossed $850 million worldwide.

In the meantime, Washington is reuniting with Ridley Scott wrestler 2. The couple previously worked together American gangsters. This year, Denzel also reteamed with his longtime collaborator Spike Lee High and lowan English-language reinterpretation of Akira Kurosawa’s 1963 crime thriller. The movie is set at A24.
