Dominican Republic captures one of its nationals wanted by the Justice of Spain

The Central Bureau of Investigation (Dicrim) of the National Police, through its National Central Bureau (NCB) Interpol Santo Domingo, captured Dominican national Carlos Ariel Díaz Moralez wanted by the Spanish authorities for the crimes of homicide and illegal possession of firearms.

The arrest of Diaz Moralez was carried out at the Haina Vacation Shelter Center, by means of a coordinated intelligence operation by the authorities.

This arrest was made in compliance with a judicial resolution issued by the Second Chamber of the Supreme Court of Justice on September 10, which authorized his capture for extradition purposes.

Díaz Moralez was internationally sought after through a red notice issued by Interpol, issued on May 20, 2016. As part of the legal process, the detainee will be handed over to the Public Prosecutor’s Office in the coming hours to formally initiate the extradition procedure requested by the Spanish Justice.

This operation was made possible, they announced, thanks to the collaboration between Dominican authorities, reaffirming their commitment to international cooperation in the fight for justice and security.
