The hunter suspected of killing a mayor and a retired policeman last Monday in the region of Alta Austriabordering with Germany y Czech Republicwas found dead this Saturday, possibly in a case of suicide.

The body of the hunter, who was armed and classified as “very dangerous” by the authorities, was found in a wooded area in the Upper Austrian region. Identified as Roland D., he is to undergo a autopsy to confirm the cause of deathThe Austrian police told a press conference.

The police said it is the alleged perpetrator of the death, by shootingof the mayor of the small town of Kirchberg ob der Donau and a 64-year-old retired policeman. Police point to the following as motives for the crime hunting disputesThe victims had previously denounced the deceased for illegal practices.

About 50 people from the suspect’s entourage were under police protection because they felt threatened. The operation to find him has mobilized some 250 police officers over the past week, as well as aerial means to search the area.

On Friday, the police located the car near the first crime scene, and since the early hours of Saturday morning a large deployment of security forces beat the area to find the body.
