The president-elect of United States, Donald Trumphas appointed this Friday Karoline Leavitt as secretary of the White Houseafter she served as spokesperson for the Republican campaign and transition team.

“(Karoline) Leavitt did a phenomenal job as national press secretary on my historic campaign, and I am pleased to announce that she will be the White House press secretary,” the Republican said in a statement.

In addition, the former spokeswoman will become the youngest secretary in U.S. history with only 27 years old. This will happen when the new president officially takes office on January 20. Prior to her, the first position was held by Ron Ziegler, spokesman for Richard Nixon (1969-1974) with 29 years.

The next occupant of the White House has stressed that Leavitt is “smart, tough and has proven to be a very effective communicator“. “I have the utmost confidence that she will excel at the podium and help us deliver our message to the American people to make America great again,” he emphasized.

Unconditional to Trump

Leavitt served as a spokesperson for the Trump campaign. during this election cycle and transition team, in addition to serving as deputy press secretary during the tycoon’s first term. A native of New Hampshire, she tried unsuccessfully to win a seat in the U.S. House of Representatives in her home state in 2022. Following that campaign, she joined Trump’s press team for his third presidential bid.

The 27-year-old communicator defined Trump’s election victory as. “the greatest political comeback in history”. “He defeated the big tech oligarchs who tried to silence him, the justice system armed against him and the fake news that has lied about him and his supporters for years,” he then asserted on his X social network account.

New appointments

Trump has made new appointments in recent days, including some controversial ones, such as the nomination of Robert F. Kennedy Jr. as his next secretary at the helm of the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) despite his anti-vaccine positions and of having given rise to misinformation related to the origin of AIDS.
