Rashida Jones is paying tribute to her late father Quincy Jones and the “culture shifter.” In an Instagram post, her first since his death at the age of 91 on Sunday, the actress shared fond memories of her youth growing up with such an “icon.”

“My father was a night owl for his entire adult life. He kept ‘jazz watches’ starting in high school and never looked back. She wrote on Thursday: “When I was little, I would wake up in the middle of the night to look for him.” “No doubt he would be somewhere in the house, composing (old school, with a pen and sheet music). He would never put me back to bed. He would smile and hold me in his arms as he continued his work … there was no safer place for me in the world.”

Rashida described her father as a giant, a genius, an icon, a “cultural transformer” – but most of all “a conduit for his love.” It was love.

“He made everyone he met feel loved and seen. Rashida added: “This is his legacy. “I was lucky enough to experience that love in close proximity. I will miss his hugs, kisses, dedication and unconditional advice.

“Father, it is an honor to be your daughter. Your love lives forever,” she ended her beautiful post.
