After a politically charged week, Michael Douglas visited Bill Maher to discuss Donald Trump’s victory.

The two-time Oscar winner also appeared on Friday in real time with Bill MaherHe expressed disappointment with the results of the 2024 presidential election, but offered a personal silver lining.

“The other thing I have to share, after Tuesday night, Wednesday morning. [I’m] He told Maher: ‘I’m so angry about this lousy race,'” he said. “It was going to be so close, with all these polls … it was an erasure. I had no idea how that could happen. So, I went out Wednesday morning to play golf just to clear my head. I go play nine holes, and I get a hole-in-one.

Referring to inflation and the death of the middle class, Douglas later said: “The fact that we can now talk about the Republicans as the party of the people, and we are this elitist party on the left, the Democrats, is a wild truth.”

Douglas previously produced and appeared in the documentary this summer America is burningwhich deconstructs the country’s economic divide.

After portraying Benjamin Franklin in this year’s Apple TV+ miniseries FranklinDouglas also guessed how the Founding Father reacted to the recent election. “Oh, I think he’s going to have another drink,” he said.

Trump defeated Kamala Harris in Tuesday’s election, becoming the 47th president of the United States, having previously served a term as the 45th president and lost his re-election to Joe Biden. The victory makes him the first felon and the oldest person to be elected president at the age of 78.
