Robbie Williams movie premiere Better Man Arrived and opened with a message from the pop legend: “This is my story. But I’m not going to tell it in a normal way because I don’t see myself as others see me.
Williams wasn’t lying about the unusual part, he appeared as a monkey (yes, a real monkey) in the movie. The singer lends his vocals to the movie and is voiced and motion captured by actor Jono Davis.
The trailer gives a full look at Williams as a monkey, shaking a crowded festival crowd as he brazenly states: “To be honest, I’ve always been a little less evolved. So let’s take it from the top, shall we?
The clip then recounts Williams’ life and times, including his childhood, the moment he joined the British pop band Take That, and the experiences he faced throughout his career. “I’m going to be famous!” he says at one point.
At one point in the documentary, he asks wearily, “Do I look like a pop star?” His mother told him that she “wouldn’t change a hair” on his head. The moment has the added effect of portraying Williams as a monkey.
He adds at another point in the clip: “I want to prove that I can do it on my own.”
A better man will be in select theaters on Christmas and will be shown nationwide on January 17, 2025.
