The band was more or less done before the album was recorded
The Beatles decided to stop touring in 1966. From that moment on, there were a lot of things pushing the band members away from each other.
In 1967, the Beatles’ manager Brian Epstein died. Epstein dealt so much with the band’s success that he is often referred to as the “Fifth Beatle”. Without him, the band experienced a crisis of sorts. With that crisis, Paul McCartney stepped in to push the band in the right direction. This sowed the seeds of resentment among the other band members, especially John Lennon.
Furthermore, the Beatles were really fed up with Lennon’s relationship with Yoko Ono, as well as his use of heroin. George Harrison was becoming a very talented songwriter and was eager to write his own music. With all these things happening simultaneously, the end of The Beatles came a little later than one would have expected in 1970. It’s a funny thing So be it. Ever got made.
Recording and releasing Let It Be is stressful
