Why was Jon Bon Jovi at the 2024 Latin Grammy Awards?

Why was Jon Bon Jovi all over the Latin Grammys? In one of the most surprising moments of the night, Bon Jovi took the stage twice: First, to introduce Carlos Vives as the 2024 Person of the Year, and later to join Pitbull for a performance.

Bon Jovi said of Vives during the show: “You’ve used your voice to create a better world through your music, and your legacy reaches far beyond the stage, making an impact, not just in your community but around the world,” Bon Jovi said of Vives during the show. “That’s one of the many reasons why you deserve this award.”

“From one Person of the Year to another, it’s an honor to recognize you as the Latin Recording Academy’s Person of the Year,” he added. (Bon Jovi won the MusiCares Personality of the Year award earlier this year.)

Later in the show, Bon Jovi returned with Pitbull for an electric rendition of “Now or Never,” a Pitbull song that samples Bon Jovi’s classic, “It’s My Life.”

Pitbull added a new verse to the song as Bon Jovi sang the original track’s chorus, surrounded by leather-clad dancers. (The duo shared a behind-the-scenes video earlier in the night.)

While performing at Jones Beach in September, Pitbull brought in Jon Bon Jovi to spice up the new track. Last night, Pitbull and Bon Jovi released the official music video for “Now or Never,” which included footage from the Jones Beach concert.
