The Fab Four released countless hits throughout the ’60s, but each member’s solo work is nothing to write home about. There could have been a few of those solo tracks Excellent Under the name of The Beatles, another album has appeared. Let’s take a look at four Beatles singles that could easily have been on a Fab Four record!
1. “Ain’t It a Pity” by George Harrison
George Harrison came out of the Beatles breakup a little wet behind the ears as a songwriter, although he did have some experience. However, without the shadow of the Fab Four’s main songwriters, he was really able to thrive as a solo musician. “Ain’t It a Pity” would have been an excellent Beatles single; Harrison’s vocals are on another level here.
2. “Give Me Some Truth” by John Lennon
This wouldn’t be a proper list without at least one John Lennon single. There are plenty to choose from that would have done well in a Beatles record. However, we’re particularly fond of “Gimme Some Truth”.
This is one of Lennon’s catchiest solo efforts, with enough of a pop vibe that would make it a standout track on a Beatles album. “Gimme Some Truth” is full of controversial lyrics and some of Lennon’s best singing. McCartney claims to have helped write this tune as well, so it is Basically A Beatles song indeed.
3. “Band on the Run” by Wings
This shouldn’t technically be considered a Beatles single. But given that Wings was pretty much Paul McCartney’s baby, we’ll allow it. “Band On The Run” is an adventurous work and one of McCartney’s most famous songs outside of The Beatles.
Not only was this track the quintessential Beatles song, it also would have been a good performance if McCartney had released it underneath his Name instead of wings.
4. “It Doesn’t Come Easy” by Ringo Starr
Ringo Starr doesn’t get enough credit for putting together some solid solos outside of the Fab Four. “It Doesn’t Come Easy” is just one example. This upbeat, upbeat rock ‘n’ roll track is a fun little romp that would have been fine on one of the Beatles’ more upbeat albums.
