Marvel debuted a special-looking trailer for Thunderbolts* at Brazil’s first D23 fan event on Saturday. The event featured an appearance by David Harbour, who plays Red Guardian in the movie.
The new extended clip on Red Guardian begins with Yelena Belova (Florence Pugh), John Walker (Wyatt Russell), and Taskmasker (Olga Kurylenko) speeding down the road in a Red Guardian limousine while being chased by a convoy. A gun battle ensues, before the convoy is taken out by Bucky Barnes, aka The Winter Soldier (Sebastian Stan).
Although it appeared that Bucky had come to their rescue, he shot up their limousine. “That’s not good,” Yelena froze.
They then meet at Stark Tower, where they are greeted by Valentina Allegra de Fontaine (Julia Louis-Dreyfus), who says that “the place wasn’t cheap, but it has a good look.” “Look at you. You’re all so gorgeous. Belova told her to “eat shit.”
When they’re not busy attacking each other in the clip, or trying to figure out who Bob (Lewis Pullman) is, they’re working together on dangerous missions for the government. As for how they apparently got their team name: Later in the show, Red Guardian shouted: “We are the Thunderbolts!” and his teammates protested: “We can’t call ourselves that.”
Red Guardian repeats “Thunderbolts”. “It’s a great name.”
Directed by Jake Schreyer Thunderbolts* is set to hit theaters on May 2. On Saturday at Brazil’s D23 fan event, Marvel also released the official trailer for Captain America: Brave New World.
