Jimmy Kimmel got emotional Wednesday night while talking about Donald Trump’s shocking and undeniable victory in the 2024 election.

“Let’s be honest, last night was a terrible night,” he said. “It was a terrible night for women and children and for the hundreds of thousands of hard-working immigrants who are moving this country forward for health care, our climate, science, journalism, justice and freedom.” Emphasis added.”

“It was a terrible night for the poor, for the middle class, for seniors who rely on Social Security,” Kimmel continued. “For our allies in Ukraine. For NATO. For truth and democracy and decency. And it was a terrible night for everyone who voted against him.

“And guess what?” Kimmel added. It was a bad night for everyone who voted for him, too. “You just haven’t realized it yet.”

“But,” Kimmel noted sadly, “it was a really good night for Putin. And for child paralysis. And for beloved billionaires like Elon Musk and the Silicon Valley brothers, and all the brainworms who sold what’s left of their souls to bow down to Donald Trump.

Kimmel then thought about the broader context of the election, nearly four years after Trump’s coup attempt (which, inexplicably, the Biden administration never held him accountable). “But you know what? I’m going to say something that Trump will never say, unless it’s in his favor: The people voted. And that’s the choice we made.”

“In January, Donald Trump becomes president and that’s it. Kimmel said: He won. “That doesn’t mean we’re giving up. But it doesn’t mean we’re not going to storm the Capitol because we don’t like the outcome.”

Kimmel considered the possibility that there might be a bit of a silver lining. “The best thing I can think of is that we’ve already been through this once. And yes, this time it will likely be worse. Maybe a lot worse. But I also think that maybe we look back and realize that this is what we need to wake up to in the long run.

“Maybe the people who care about him the most need to know how little he cares about them.”

“I hope his next unpredictable behavior is crossing the aisle and doing something positive,” Kimmel added. “He’s really doing that, with him in the low bars he has a chance to win us over.”

“Maybe this time he’ll surprise us and do some productive things. Kimmel admitted: “Maybe he won’t, but he can. “Or maybe the only good thing about all this is that he won’t be able to run again in 2028. I don’t know.”

At the end of his commentary, Kimmel tried to humorously explain how it happened.

“Look, I’m disappointed. I know a lot of you are. I thought common sense would prevail. I’m so stupid. I always think that’s how it’s going to be, but that’s simply not important to a lot of people. “It’s not at the top of their list,” he said.

“There’s evidence that many voters didn’t even realize that Joe Biden was no longer on the ballot. “In the last couple of days, there has been an increase in Google searches for the phrase ‘Did Joe Biden drop out?

Kimmel told viewers, “The idea that some Americans don’t know who’s running seems so crazy that we decided to do a totally unscientific poll. “We went out on the streets today and asked people if they voted today.

He then showed a video of a person on the street where many people seemed to think the presidential election would be held on Wednesday instead of Tuesday.

He joked: “Okay, now I get it.”
