No, John Oliver didn’t actually cry during Sunday’s “Last Week Tonight” episode. The HBO host set the record straight Monday night, appearing on “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.”
As Oliver sat across the table, Colbert teased his friend and offered him a box of tissues in case Oliver needed them on the eve of Election Day. Oliver laughed a lot and marveled at the fact that people actually thought he had tears in his eyes with his recent endorsement of Kamala Harris.
Oliver said: “It was very strange to see so many people think I was crying.” “I wasn’t crying! No, not even a little bit. No, I’m British. I’m dead inside. There is no functional emotion left here. Centuries and centuries have made it debatable.
Oliver assured Colbert that he could remove the tissue paper from the desk because I am “as emotionally strong as nails” and it would not be necessary.
As the interview progressed, Colbert played a clip from Oliver’s previous appearance on the show, in 2015, during which he said he “couldn’t care less” about Donald Trump.
Looking back on it, Oliver admitted that he still feels that way, but he knows he doesn’t feel that way right now He has Pay attention to the convicted felon. However, the HBO host is really hoping that Tuesday’s election will allow him and everyone else to go back to not worrying about Trump.
“I think it would be a gift to the nation if we could give ourselves the joy of not worrying anymore. “I think that’s where we’re all going to be happy.”
