Filming will also take place in Modena and Bologna, and the production will utilize virtual reality technology and visual effects from Tuscany Film Studio.
Michel Moroni, Anthony Hopkins, Andy Garcia and Jessica Alba star in the movie about the two brothers behind the iconic Italian car.
The movie is produced by Italian Andrea Iervolino for his new TV series The Andrea Iervolino Company and directed by Oscar winner Bobby Moresco (Crash).
Maserati was founded in 1914 in a garage in the central Italian city of Bologna by three brothers: Alfieri, Ettore and Ernesto. From its earliest days, the company – now known for its luxury cars – was linked to the world of motor racing. The first Maserati in a Grand Prix was the car Alfieri Maserati was driving in the 1927 Messina Cup race when he was involved in a near-fatal accident. Alfieri died a few years later at the age of 44 from his injuries associated with that car. In 1937, the brothers sold a controlling stake in the company, which is now owned by Fiat.
