Prince Andrew has seen financial support from his brother King Charles cut off Daily Mail Newspaper reports.
Andrew, who was second in line to the British throne when he was born in 1960, has seen a significant drop in status since his failure to apologize for his past friendship with Jeffrey Epstein came to light in a BBC interview in 2019.
The resulting outrage led to him being stripped of military titles and patronage, and forced to retreat from public life. However, he continued to live in a royal house in west London and receives an allowance of 1 million pounds a year ($1.3 million a year) from the royal purse.
Now, the Daily Mail A newspaper reports that King Charles has cut off his brother’s financial ties and instructed royal accountants to stop paying the allowance.
Mail It quotes an updated biography by royalist author Robert Hardman, who wrote that Andrew “was no longer a financial burden on the king.”
Times of London tells the same story, adding that Buckingham Palace and Crown Estate declined to comment, while Andrew could not be reached for comment.
