The box office was fairly quiet this weekend ahead of Election Day, with no films challenging Sony/Columbia’s “Venom: The Last Dance” for the top spot as it moved toward the top spot with $22 million in its second weekend.

Domestically, the film is expected to bring in a 10-day total of $86 million, just over the $80 million that the first “Venom” earned in its opening weekend alone. But foreign support should push “The Last Dance” beyond the break-even point.

Things look less rosy for another Sony title that is the only wide release this weekend: TriStar/Miramax’s “Here,” which is set to open this weekend with just $5.1 million in 2,647 locations against a $45 million budget.

The movie marks director Robert Zemeckis’ reunion with his “Forrest Gump” stars Tom Hanks and Robin Wright, but it didn’t impress critics with a 38% on Rotten Tomatoes, while audiences were lukewarm with a B on CinemaScore and a 59% on CinemaScore. – on CinemaScore and 59% on Rotten.
